Vinyl framing specialist Art Vinyl today announces that the winner of Best Art Vinyl 2010 is the Klaxons album ‘Surfing the Void’ with its striking image of a cat in a spacesuit.

This is the sixth year of the Best Art Vinyl public vote, which is designed to highlight the very best in sleeve design. Initial nominees were selected by a panel of expert sleeve designers before a public vote conducted both online and in person at six exhibitions in the UK, France, Belgium and Sweden.

The award was created by Art Vinyl, the London-based creator of the patented ‘Play ‘n’ Display’ frame which enables the owner to create their own updateable sleeve exhibits at home.

Founder Andrew Heeps said, “We congratulate Klaxons and the designer Richard Robinson on an extremely striking image which won by a clear margin. Art Vinyl’s continuing expansion into Europe and the fact we were able to attract votes from five countries this year shows just how the award is gaining strength.

“We may live in the age of the download, but an MP3 cannot offer the visual and emotional appeal of a great vinyl sleeve.”

Klaxons join a prestigious list of previous Best Art Vinyl winners which includes Muse, Fleet Foxes, Thom Yorke, the Cribs and Hard Fi.
